Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28 (NKJV)
Why should the weary and the heavy laden come to Christ? very simple, Christ will give them rest. Rest is available, but we have to come to Jesus Christ in order to receive the rest of God.
Jesus Christ frees people from all burdens. The rest that Jesus promises is love, healing, and peace with God. My yoke Jesus said “is easy”. If it’s heavy, it’s not His burden at all, because His burden is light. If what I’m doing is tough and wearisome to me, then I know it’s not the Lord who has placed that burden upon me. His burden is easy. His load is light.
1. Take the yoke of Christ
Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” Mt. 11:29-30 (NKJV)
2. Take up the cross daily
Then He said to them all, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow Me. Luke 9:23 (NKJV)
3. Take no thought for life
“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25 (NKJV)
4. Take no thought for raiment
Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ Matthew 6:31 (NKJV)
5. Take communion
and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” 1 Corinthians 11:24-25 (NKJV)
6. Take the whole armor of God
Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Ephesians 6:13 (NKJV)
Jesus Christ tells us to come to Him, to believe in Him, and to trust him, and Him only, for salvation. Doing this He will give us forgiveness and rest from our sins, and from the fears of eternal death.
