How to get our prayers answered.

1 John 5:14
And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us.

The Christian's most powerful resource is communion with God through prayer. The results are often greater than we thought were possible. Some people see prayer as a last resort to be tried when all else fails. Prayer should come first. Because God's power is infinitely greater than ours.

The following seven prayer principles will help you in your prayer life.

Praying according to God's will.
And this is the boldness which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us. 1 John 5:14
We can have confidence that God hears our prayer if we ask according to His will. God has revealed His will in His Word. His will for us includes all the great things of life. As we grow in our relationship with Him through studying and applying His Word, the more our prayers will be in line with Christ's desires and purposes and the more effective our prayers will be.

Praying with all our heart.
"And ye shall seek Me, and find Me, when ye shall search for Me with all your heart" (Jer. 29:13)

Waiting on the Lord.
I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry (Psalm 40:1).

Praying in faith.
All things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive (Matt. 21:22).
We can have confidence that God hears our prayers if we know that He hears. We must have confidence in God, believe that He loves us and will do what He promises for us. This is the declaration of Scripture time and again.

Setting our love on God.
"Because he hath set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known My name. He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him" (Psalm 91:14, 15).

Keeping God's commandments.
"And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight" (1 John 3:22).

Abiding in Christ.
"If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you" (John 15:7).
Receiving answers to our prayers is in direct relation to remaining personally connected to Christ and his Word. It is impossible to have a spiritually productive prayer life apart from knowing, believing and living by Christ's teachings.
