2 Tim. 3:1-5
But realize this, that in the last days difficult times
will come. For men will be lovers of self, lovers of
money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to
parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable,
malicious gossips, without self- control, brutal, haters
of good, treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of
pleasure rather than lovers of God, holding to a form of
godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid
such men as these.
Coming to the end of his own
life, the apostle Paul warns Timothy of difficult days
to come. And what he shares with Timothy has application
for you and me specifically.
I. Lovers of their own
selves, boastful, arrogant ...

bribery, graft, corruption.

control over their young people at all. We read so much
today about young people being "frustrated."

The idea here is of people ignoring covenants or
contracts. This of course is at the bottom of broken
homes. Men and women stood at the marriage altar and
solemnly pledged their vows to each other, then a bit
later they threw those vows to the winds as they
separated and divorced.
5. Despisers of those that
"Incontinent" means "intemperate"; "fierce" means
"savage," and savage conduct is certainly evident today.
We surely live in a reckless age, whether you look at
the speed of travel, the waste of money, or the
carelessness of human lives.
6. Lovers of pleasure
rather than lovers of God
If there was ever a time when people revealed themselves
as pleasure crazy that time is now.
7. Form of Godliness, but
denying the power thereof
There will be plenty of religion in the last days, but
it will be a mere imitation, a form of godliness without
the life- changing power of God. Apostole Pauls counsel
to young Timothy is "Avoid such men as these".
